Application of New Website Technology and Social Media on Conventional Media Radio Stations Indonesia

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to acquire factual knowledge revealing the important benefits that arise in the use of the Internet with new Internet technologies: websites and social media on conventional media of radio stations.

Methods / Design / Approaches: This research uses qualitative methods with case study approaches that study the utilization of the internet with new internet technologies on traditional media of the radio station. This study examines from various perspectives namely communication, media, technology in the maintenance of radio broadcasting with various sources.

Results and Conclusions: Nowadays new technologies and distribution methods are beginning to emerge that have a profound effect on the way the audience listens to radio broadcasts through internet media. It's for the radio station agency with new opportunities, but also new challenges in addition to conventional radio services available, now available as well as file-sharing, podcasting, downloading, and streaming audio, all facilitated through internet media.

Implications: Currently, it is difficult to obtain listener data in conventional media. The listening data that can be measured nowadays is easier on the Internet (new media) both through website as well as social media such as Instagram, Facebook, Youtube and Twitter in real online.

Understanding/Values: A systematic review of literature contributes to studying and providing an overview in literature regarding the integration of old media and new media to existence of the radio industry that existed over the years.
